Getting started in sinker or lure casting can be done quite easily and inexpensively. Pure or soft lead melts at 621 degrees F and temperatures in the range of 700-800 degrees F are all normally needed for proper casting. These ranges can easily be reached on a kitchen stove using and iron pot and dripping ladle. More convenience and sophistication can be obtained at a somewhat higher purchase price in the form of one of the many available electric melters. A well made mold will get you off to a good start.
